Today it is my pleasure to help kick off the blog tour for Suzanne Snow’s The Cottage of New Beginnings.

Annie has returned to Thorndale after the death of her beloved Godmother, to move into the beautiful cottage she has now inherited. She is feeling vulnerable after the breakdown of her relationship, and she is keen to make a new start. What she absolutely does not want is romance!

Jon is the local village hero, heading up the Fell Rescue team as well as providing breaks for teenagers. All of this whilst also running his families estate – he is handsome, driven – basically the ideal man! When he meets Annie he can’t take his eyes off her, he can’t stop thinking about her but he knows she’s recovering from a bad breakup.

Thorndale and its inhabitants is such a lovely village, I can understand why Annie returned there after spending her school holidays there with her Godmother Molly. Annie needed some time to find herself, and I think that beautiful cottage was the perfect setting. I really enjoyed following Annie and Jon’s burgeoning friendship. I could understand both Annie’s reluctance and Jon’s frustrations at their relationship. I loved many of the supporting characters (Sam and Charlie were particular favourites)

I am more than happy to recommend this novel. As the weather starts to turn, it is ideal for those chillier Sunday afternoons curled up on the sofa under a cosy blanket! Grab yourself a blanket, a glass of wine and a copy of The Cottage of New Beginnings!

A good blurb will always draw you in, and the blurb for Love Me Like You Do certainly did that!

Parker finds herself on her wedding day, the happiest day of her life, fleeing the scene. Her life changes in that one moment, as she discovers her fiancee isn’t ready to get married – shame he didn’t mention it earlier!

Liam finds himself in the right place at the right time, as he manages to save a fleeing bride from serious injury. What he doesn’t anticipate is meeting a woman like Parker. Even whilst experiencing her worst ever day, he can’t help but find himself entranced by her. Following a number of coincidental meetings, they finally agree to be friends – but will it be enough?

Whilst the blurb definitely sold me this novel, I still didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I loved both Parker and Liam – they were realistic and likeable characters. Both had their flaws, neither trying to be perfect at all. I loved their random meetings, and their interactions not only with each other but with others too.

This was a fab easy-read with believable characters. It is of course a romance novel, but it happens so naturally that it’s really enjoyable to read. It’s a novel very much centred around family, second chances and love. I am more than happy to recommend this novel to you all. As the evenings draw in and the temperature cools, curl up on the sofa, snuggle under a blanket with a delicious glass of wine and lose yourself in Liam and Parkers story!

Welcome back to Mill Grange and the beautiful village of Upwich, full of larger-than-life characters you can’t help but adore.

Having already read Midsummer Dreams at Mill Grange, I was very excited to get my hands on the next book in the series, Autumn Leaves at Mill Grange. I really enjoy it when an author decides to create a series – it gives the reader more time with characters (such as Mabel and Bert!) but it also offers the opportunity to get to know other characters in a way we perhaps hadn’t in previous novels.

Autumn Leaves at Mill Grange focuses on the set up of a retreat for injured army veterans, following Sam Phillips purchase of Mill Grange. Sam himself suffers from crippling claustrophobia, and as a result he has not yet been able to cross the threshold of his new project. His girlfriend Tina is keen to help him overcome his fears and is willing to do whatever it takes to help him.

Thea has remained at Mill Grange after the change in ownership to take over as Manager. However with the discovery of a Roman fortlet within the grounds, she is keen to utilise her archaeological skills to uncover the treasures beneath the soil – her only disappointment is that Shaun, her handsome new celebrity boyfriend has had to leave to film for his show Landscape Treasures in Cornwall.

This is such a lovely novel, and a perfect sequel to Midsummer Dreams at Mill Grange. I love the setting of Mill Grange, and it was such a treat to return there to learn more about these characters. Sam is a fascinating character and whilst his situation is difficult, watching him work to overcome his problems is inspiring, particularly while he works hard to help others in similar situations. The change in Tina was also lovely to follow, as she finds her way in a new relationship, particularly one which comes with issues.

I am more than happy to recommend this novel, but it would be a shame to read just Autumn Leaves at Mill Grange, so grab yourself a copy of Midsummer Dreams at Mill Grange too!

Flynn makes it clear he doesn’t want trouble, and he’s not the man Julia thinks he is.  As he sets about convincing the community he’s changed, he hopes he can convince Julia to give him another chance too…

So I have been waiting with bated breath to get my hands on a copy of Starcross Manor – I have loved the Love Heart Lane series, so I was very pleased to discover she had written another one (with more on the way!).

Julia Coleman is the owner of the local B&B in Heartcross, and she is truly a part of the community. When she discovers that Flynn Carter has appeared in her village as the new owner of Starcross Manor she is worried. She has personally had dealings with him before and knows that he cannot be trusted. He might be rich and handsome but he is incredibly ruthless, thinking only of himself. When she discovers his plans for the manor she feels she has no option but to rally the villagers into action.

Flynn Carter is excited by his new venture at Starcross Manor; he’s hardworking, and he enjoys seeing that work come to fruition. What he doesn’t expect though is to come up against an entire village of angry business owners that will stop at both to put a halt to his plans. He doesn’t understand what they have against him, but he’s determined to prove to them all that he is not who they all think he is.

I think this may be my favourite of all the Love Heart Lane series so far. I loved both Julia and Flynn as characters and whilst there are clearly misunderstandings and wrongdoing on both sides, it all felt justified. I didn’t struggle to understand either of their points of view, they both acted based on the information available to them at the time. Obviously things would have been easier if they had communicated a little better, but that happens in real life on a daily basis! I loved their story, and I loved reading more about Starcross Manor. Heartcross is such a tight knit community, it was great to watch them come together and support one another, even if it was to the detriment of Flynn for a while! Its always lovely to read about loved characters from previous books – I particularly liked catching up with Allie from Clover Cottage, however brief!

All in all this is a fab, easy read novel. If you enjoy Christie Barlow’s novels, you will love this one. Starcross Manor can easily be read as a standalone, but I’m not sure why you would want to! I’m already excited to read The Lake House (due out in December 2020) followed by Primrose Park (due out in February 2021), but that leaves you plenty of time to catch up if you haven’t already started reading this series! Let me know what you think!

Today it is my pleasure to bring you my review of As Luck Would Have It by Zoe May as part of her fabulous blog tour!

Natalie Jackson might keep up appearances on Instagram, but in reality her fiancé has just jilted her after the birth of their baby and she’s moved back in with her mum. Life isn’t exactly going to plan!

So when she enters the village raffle for the holiday of a lifetime, she thinks she has no chance of winning. But her name is pulled out – and, as luck would have it, so is a ticket bought by her childhood nemesis: Will Brimble.

Surely a romantic holiday for two is the worst idea ever…right?

I have been fortunate enough to read Flying Solo by Zoe May, so I jumped at the chance to read As Luck Would Have It and I wasn’t disappointed.

Natalie Jackson thought she had it all: a successful career, a new baby and a fiancé that she loved. What she hadn’t realised was that her fiancé did not feel the same way. At all. So when she finds herself back living with her Mum so that she has help with baby Hera, she can’t help but feel her life has moved backwards somewhat.

Will Brimble finds himself divorced, having lost his job and back in his home town of Chiddingfold. When he unexpectedly bumps into Natalie at a village charity night after more than a decade, he finds himself competing with her in the raffle for the star prize – a five star trip to Marrakech. He REALLY wants to win that holiday. What he doesn’t bank on, is Natalie wanting it as much as he does! When fate unexpectedly throws them together, they find themselves on their way to the luxurious destination – together!

Natalie and Will are both desperate for a holiday, and a five star luxury break is just what they both need. Whilst they hadn’t anticipated doing it together, they find themselves reconnecting after such a long time apart. Naturally, their five star luxury break is anything but plain sailing but where would the fun be in that?!

This was a great, light, easy-read novel. I really enjoyed the characters of both Will and Natalie. Both were believable – you could understand their hesitance in a number of situations due to their past experiences. I loved the Marrakech setting, you could really feel the vibrance of the streets and the opulence of the hotel they were staying at. It was actually really great to read a novel not set in a stereotypical romantic location.

I am more than happy to recommend this novel to you all – so grab a copy, a glass of wine and find yourself an outdoor spot to read it and relax in the glorious sunshine!

Today it is my pleasure to bring you my review of You May Kiss The Bridesmaid by Camilla Isley.

Archibald Hill is handsome, single, and he’s going to his best friend’s wedding ready to make a conquest or two. After all, everyone knows weddings are the perfect setting to get lucky.

Summer Knowles used to have a life—friends, family, a sister who’d do anything for her—until she blew it all away with a terrible mistake. Now, attending her twin’s wedding as the party’s undesirable number one seems like more than she can handle. So, when a tall stranger with smoldering ice-blue eyes offers her a therapy of seven nights of no-strings-attached fun, she might even ignore that he has a beard and accept.

Problem is, Summer has never been good at keeping sex and feelings separated…

So I was lucky enough to read From Thailand with Love earlier this year, and was excited when I discovered that You May Kiss The Bridesmaid was due to be released as the next in the series. As you know, I love a series where we get to revisit characters, but I also love learning more about characters we have only briefly met. In You May Kiss The Bridesmaid we get to finally meet Summer Knowles, twin sister of Winter. We already know that Winter and Summers relationship has been fragile, so she is the perfect character for us to learn more about. We met Archibald Hill back in Thailand – he’s loveable and clearly a great friend to Logan but he has a reputation for being a womaniser.

Summer Winter is dreading her sisters wedding. After she made the monumental mistake of having an affair with her best friends boyfriend, she tore apart her friendship group and her twin sister stopped talking to her. Now both Winter and Lana, her best friend, have forgiven her but it doesn’t mean the rest of her friends are quite so forgiving. She hasn’t seen any of them since the affair, and she doesn’t want to see them now. She has lived with the shame of what she did, and she has now sworn off men. She’ll do whatever it takes to get through Winter’s wedding.

Archie is looking forward to his best man duties at Logan’s wedding. He loves Winter, and thinks they are a great match. Plus he knows there are always single ladies at a wedding! What he doesn’t expect is to meet Summer – she might look like Winter but they couldn’t be more different. It’s a good job they are both only looking for some fun until the wedding is over…

I really enjoyed From Thailand With Love, and I am more than happy to say the same about You May Kiss The Bridesmaid. It is a light, easy read full of romance with a little bit of drama thrown in for good measure. Whilst Summer might have previously cheated, it is clear she is both embarrassed and mortified by her previous behaviour, so it was good to watch a character behave in such a grown-up way, putting her sisters feeling before her own by attending the wedding. Archie is already a character that I loved, so it was great to spend some time following him specifically.

All in all this a great book, and I am more that happy to recommend it to you. If you’re lucky enough to be getting away this year then it’ll be a fab beach read, but if like me its all about the staycation for you, then this will be a great book to read with a glass of wine whilst sunning yourself in your garden!

Today it is my pleasure to bring you my review of Space Academy by Hannah Hopkins.

It’s the year 2100. Earth is dying. A young woman, Elsie, has risked everything to get her newborn son, Will, aboard ‘The Mayflower’ – a spaceship that will transport a select number of people to a new planet they can call home. Elsie’s luck takes a turn when she discovers the captain of ‘The Mayflower’ is an old friend. He allows her to board with her son, giving them a place on the luxurious Floor One, where they live amongst the most honoured of ‘The Mayflower’s’ passengers. 
Thirteen years later, and Will is ready to start school at Space Academy, an institute specialising in subjects such as Alien Studies, Technology, and Rocket Control. While a pupil there, Will starts to uncover secrets about his father’s death, becoming wrapped in a mystery that he and his friends must solve if they are to have any hope of saving humanity from the threat that lies in wait. 
Lose yourself in this brilliantly addictive novel as it takes you on a journey through the stars. But be warned – you might be surprised by what you find.

After reading Temi Oh’s Do You Dream of Terra-Two? and really enjoying it, I was keen to read another novel with a sci-fi edge to it. Space Academy ticked all of the boxes!

Space Academy follows the story of Will, Emily, Finley and Lois, four students at the Space Academy, a school set up specifically to educate the younger generation in preparation for settling on a new planet.

Earth was ravaged by wars and pollution, and in 2100 the Split occurred. The Mayflower, a large, technologically advanced space ship leaves Earth with the most intelligent (and wealthy) people onboard in search of a new world for them to settle on. Those left behind were known as the Forgottens, and it was no longer allowed to talk about them on The Mayflower 13 years later.

Wills life on The Mayflower is one of privilege, something that his mother would never have expected when she frantically tried to get them onboard The Mayflower with no ticket 13 years previously. It is expected that he will attend the Space Academy, and when he finds out he has a place he looks forward to starting afresh. He knows he’s different from the other kids on the first floor, and he’s looking forward to making new friends. He meets Emily and Finley on the transporter, and they quickly become friends. All three of them live on different floors, with Finley coming from the seventh floor. He is the first child from the lower floors to be admitted to the Space Academy and he feels out of place from the moment he arrives. Will and Emily, and later Lois, finally give him a sense of belonging that he so desires whilst he gains an education he never thought possible.

Of course, what is a school without a mystery! Space Academy is full of mystery, something that the four teenagers must solve if humanity is to survive.

Space Academy is great YA novel. It’s got some great characters, I loved the space setting and the premise of The Mayflower, and I wasn’t completely sure how the mystery was going to play out. If I was to have any criticism it would be that there maybe wasn’t enough information provided about certain parts of the story. However this would be easily rectified as I actually think this would be great as part of series – I would definitely be happy to read more about these characters, more about The Mayflower and its journey, and I would be fascinated to discover what happened to the Forgottens. Fingers crossed that Hannah Hopkins will indulge us all in the future!

Author Bio

In 2017, Hannah Hopkins released a self-published novel entitled ‘The Split’; the story of four teenagers navigating life after Earth as they journey through space to a new planet. Two years later, the book was picked up by ‘The Conrad Press’ and re-vamped as ‘Space Academy,’ with a new cover, new title and new additions to the story. ‘Space Academy’ was released in 2020, kickstarting Hannah’s career as a writer. 

 Hannah is currently busy writing a historical fiction novel with a feminist twist. She spends the rest of her time working at a University and caring for her two young children in the UK.

Day two of this fabulous blog tour, and I am here to bring you my review! I loved A New Life for Ariana Byrne so I was particularly excited when I discovered that Cornish Dreams at Cockleshell Cottage was nearing its publication! The Byrne sisters had a tough start to life, so when Ariana discovers that she has inherited the title of Countess of Hiverton and everything that goes with it, she and her sisters are left in shock. Their change in fortune is huge, and nobody deserves it more than Ariana. However with a number of large estates to look after, she needs her four sisters more than ever to help her in taking on this newfound responsibility.

Paddy Byrne has spent the last few years travelling the world as the famous model Holly McDonald, changing her name so as to protect the privacy of both herself and her sisters. Paddy was determined to do her bit to keep her family together when her parents died, so when she was scouted by a modelling agency she jumped at the chance to earn some money to help support everyone. However, with her money no longer required to keep them all afloat, she is keen to take a step back and help her sister with the Cornish estate. She wants to prove to everyone that she is more than a pretty face, that she can do her bit to help run the estate and assist those people that are counting on them for jobs and homes.

Hal is an ex-soldier who has returned home to help his father run their own estate in Cornwall. His life is all planned out, with his engagement to Bianca and his plans for expanding the estate. What he doesn’t plan on is meeting Paddy. When they meet the sparks fly, and they find their lives intertwined in a way neither expected.

I loved this novel, just as I loved A New Life for Ariana Byrne. Obviously there’s plenty of romance, miscommunications and drama but I particularly love the Byrne sisters. There is so much character development – you really get to understand how they got to be where they are, how their past has affected them and how they want to grow as people. I love how tight knit they are as sisters – as someone with sisters this is completely relatable, both the love between them and the annoyances! Whilst the first novel was set in Norfolk, Cornish Dreams at Cockleshell Cottage is set in Cornwall, and Liz Hurley really captures the raw beauty of the Cornish coastline. Setting is everything in a novel, and Liz has worked wonders with this one.

I am more than happy to recommend this novel as a standalone, but you’ll be missing out if you don’t read the series. I can not wait for the next Byrne sister novel, I’ll be grabbing a copy at the earliest opportunity!

Summertime at the Cornish Confetti Agency is the second book in the Cornish Confetti Agency series. Having already read The Cornish Confetti Agency I was very excited to get my hands on a copy of this latest instalment!

Lexie Harrington is covering the Cornish Confetti Agency whilst its owner Marley is dealing with a family emergency abroad. Her personal life is more than a little messy, and The Cornish Confetti Agency has provided Lexi with the escape that she so desperately needed. Her first wedding was a success despite the drama and mystery, leaving Lexi hopeful that this second wedding will run more smoothly. Instead, Lexi is left feeling like trouble follows her wherever she goes, and she fears her involvement will ultimately destroy Marleys business!

Whilst dealing with all the drama that goes alongside wedding planning, Lexi also struggles with her feelings for Theo as she is often left confused by the signals he is giving her. In addition, she knows she has some major life decisions to make as she realises she can’t keep running from her problems. Will she return to London and the job that she loved? Or will she leave her life behind and start afresh in Cornwall?

It was so lovely to return to Cornwall to visit Lexie, Freya, Theo and the gang once again. I loved reading about all the wedding planning (who doesn’t love a wedding!) and the drama that went with it. Lexie and Theo have a great will they/won’t they vibe (clearly they like each other, but no decent romance runs smoothly!). This is such a lovely, easy to read novel, perfect for these balmy early summer evenings (I appreciate this week has been a bit rainy, but I’m still optimistic that its just a blip in our heatwave!). So grab yourself a chilled glass of pink wine, a blanket and settle yourself in the garden for an evening of relaxation with Summertime at The Cornish Confetti Agency!

Ballycove is a lovely village, tight knit and supportive. Corrigan Mills is at the centre of all that, the glue that binds not only the Corrigan family but all of the villagers as well. This is the story of a family, each with their own lives, their own secrets and their own futures to build, but they each need Ballycove and their family to help them achieve.

I am more than happy to recommend this novel, its filled with relatable characters in a beautiful setting. Its perfect for readers who are looking for a novel all about family.
