*BLOG TOUR* Spring Blooms at the Hummingbird Hotel by Daisy James

It is my pleasure to bring you my review of Spring Blooms at the Hummingbird Hotel by Daisy James as part of her fabulous blog tour!

Welcome to the Hummingbird Hotel!

When Corfu’s newest hotelier Abbie Coleman is asked to host a Bakes & Beaches retreat for a group of Bake Off enthusiasts from a regional TV and radio station, she knows she needs as much help as she can get. Baking is not her forte, and with cupcakes, traybakes, pastries and showstoppers to co-ordinate – along with a whole host of terrifyingly high-octane water sports – she’s worried that her guests’ culinary creations will be more ‘curdled catastrophes’ than ‘tasty triumphs’. For any successful enterprise, preparation is key, so, along with her new assistant manager and all-round astrological guru Felix Morgan, Abbie sets about preparing a long and detailed To Do list.

But this is the Hummingbird Hotel, and the words ‘straightforward’ and ‘drama-free’ do not feature on the menu. So, when the salted caramel cupcakes are heavier on the salt than the caramel, and a guest’s expensive watch takes an unscheduled dip in the pool, Abbie must once again join forces with chef-turned-vineyard owner – and now fiancé – Nikos Angelopoulos, to unravel the mystery and maintain the hotel’s reputation for delivering beautiful bakes instead of mayhem and mistakes.

Can she turn burnt buns into sumptuous soufflés? Or will her future on Corfu be over before it’s begun?

Book 4 in the Hummingbird Hotel series is Spring Blooms at the Hummingbird Hotel, and what a delight it was to return to the beautiful island of Corfu. Abbie Coleman, the unexpected hotelier for the Hummingbird Hotel after she inherited the beautiful location, is running a Bakes and Beaches retreat for a group of colleagues. As anticipated, nothing ever runs smoothly at the Hummingbird Hotel! With ruined baking and swimming watches, Abbie must turn sleuth to work out exactly what is happening amongst the guests at her beloved hotel!

We are back with Abbie, her fiancé Nikos and her friends on the beautiful island of Corfu. If you have been following this series, you will know that Abbie’s true passion is floral artistry, and in Spring Blooms at the Hummingbird Hotel she is looking to see if she can get back to doing what she loves, creating floral masterpieces for local hotels and businesses. With so much on her mind, Abbie is pulled in multiple directions as she seeks to run a successful hotel, achieve her floral ambitions whilst also attempting to become part of Nikos’ family if she can ever get them to meet her.

This is a great addition to the Hummingbird Hotel series. I love the setting in Corfu, and Daisy James never fails to really bring to life both the hotel and Nikos’ vineyard. You can really imagine yourself wandering amongst the vines, or relaxing by the pool. The Bakes and Beach retreat sounded fabulous, with all the characters really emerging from the pages as well rounded individuals. I really enjoyed this novel and am more than happy to recommend it to you all – make sure that you make time to pick up the other novels in this fabulous series too!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

*BLOG TOUR* Escape to the Hummingbird Hotel by Daisy James

Today it is my stop on the blog tour for Escape to the Hummingbird Hotel by the fabulous Daisy James!

When florist-to-the-stars Abbie Coleman catches a glimpse of her boyfriend through the window of Tiffany’s, she couldn’t be more excited. Keen to share her happiness, she organises a huge surprise party for all their family and friends… except things don’t quite work out as she expected, and instead of planning a flower-filled wedding, she finds herself single, and fired from a job she loves.

Desperate to escape her heartbreak, she jets off to her aunt’s quirky Hummingbird Hotel on the gorgeous island of Corfu. Little did she know that instead of spending her time lounging by the pool, drinking cocktails, and soaking up the sun, she’d be stepping into the role of the island’s newest hotelier.

The arrival of unexpected guests sends Abbie into a tailspin of panic, and she’s forced to turn to snippy, but charismatic, vineyard owner-turned-chef, Nikos Angelopoulos, for help. Why does the kitchen fill with smoke whenever she makes coffee? Why is there a naked man swimming in the pool? And why do the hotel’s toiletries turn their guests’ hair pink?

Despite all the chaos, the Hummingbird Hotel works its magic on Abbie, and she finds herself with a decision to make. Will she return home to the drizzly grey skies of London? Or will she take a leap of faith and embrace the new opportunities that little corner of paradise has to offer, and maybe, just maybe, discover a sprinkle of romance along the way?

Abbie is an amazing florist, working for FlowerEssence under her wonderful boyfriend Dan, who she knows is going to propose (she saw him going into Tiffany’s so she is certain it is happening!).

When she unexpectedly and rather brutally finds herself single and jobless, Abbie is left feeling completely lost. When she discovers that she has inherited the Hummingbird Hotel from the Aunt she has never met, she finds herself on a plane to Corfu in a daze, ready to sell the property to potentially fund her dream of an English cottage with beautiful garden, whilst also hoping to learn more about the Aunt who had been absent from her life.

Set in the beautiful Corfu, Daisy James paints a vivid picture of the peaceful Hummingbird Hotel, as well as the neighbouring vineyard. You can really immerse yourself in the beautiful surroundings, whilst absolutely understanding Abbie’s predicament. She has spent the last year believing that her relationship and her job would replace her dreams of working at a famous garden (Kew was up there on the list!) as well as owning her own English cottage and garden. With family secrets playing on her mind, and her life in London looking a little bleak, maybe Corfu is just what she needs.

With a potential romance thrown in for good measure, this novel offers you everything that you want from a light hearted romance novel. There is some drama, family secrets, a beautiful setting (truly, this novel makes me want to get on a plane to Greece) and a beautiful resolution. This is the perfect summer novel, and i am more than happy to recommend it to you all. Like me, you may not be heading to foreign shores this year but don’t let that stop you dreaming of them. Grab yourself a cold glass of wine and a copy of the Escape to the Hummingbird Hotel – let me know what you think!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Thank you to Daisy James and Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with a copy of this novel. This review is my own honest opinion.

*BLOG TOUR* Summer at the Cornish Confetti Agency by Daisy James

Today it is my turn on the blog tour for Summertime at the Cornish Confetti Agency by Daisy James.

It’s Summertime at The Cornish Confetti Agency!

When Lexie Harrington is asked to co-ordinate Kat and Dylan’s ‘English village fête’ wedding, she’s determined that this time everything will go according to her carefully laid plans; no ice bucket challenges, no whoopee cushions, and absolutely no googly eyes attached to everything in sight!

With gorgeous journalist-cum-wedding columnist Theo Barker to offer a helping hand, Lexie is optimistic that she can deliver the fairy tale wedding her clients have always dreamed of…. until the best man Noah is targeted by a loose hosepipe, the wedding rings go walk-about, and his beloved scarlet Porsche takes on a distinctly unpleasant aroma.

Can Lexie and Theo uncover what’s behind the mysterious goings on, or will the Cornish Confetti Agency be forced to close its doors to the future brides and grooms of glorious Cornwall?

Summertime at the Cornish Confetti Agency is the second book in the Cornish Confetti Agency series. Having already read The Cornish Confetti Agency I was very excited to get my hands on a copy of this latest instalment!

Lexie Harrington is covering the Cornish Confetti Agency whilst its owner Marley is dealing with a family emergency abroad. Her personal life is more than a little messy, and The Cornish Confetti Agency has provided Lexi with the escape that she so desperately needed. Her first wedding was a success despite the drama and mystery, leaving Lexi hopeful that this second wedding will run more smoothly. Instead, Lexi is left feeling like trouble follows her wherever she goes, and she fears her involvement will ultimately destroy Marleys business!

Whilst dealing with all the drama that goes alongside wedding planning, Lexi also struggles with her feelings for Theo as she is often left confused by the signals he is giving her. In addition, she knows she has some major life decisions to make as she realises she can’t keep running from her problems. Will she return to London and the job that she loved? Or will she leave her life behind and start afresh in Cornwall?

It was so lovely to return to Cornwall to visit Lexie, Freya, Theo and the gang once again. I loved reading about all the wedding planning (who doesn’t love a wedding!) and the drama that went with it. Lexie and Theo have a great will they/won’t they vibe (clearly they like each other, but no decent romance runs smoothly!). This is such a lovely, easy to read novel, perfect for these balmy early summer evenings (I appreciate this week has been a bit rainy, but I’m still optimistic that its just a blip in our heatwave!). So grab yourself a chilled glass of pink wine, a blanket and settle yourself in the garden for an evening of relaxation with Summertime at The Cornish Confetti Agency!

Rating: 4 out of 5.
